Even though David had hoped to forget the whole thing, he becomes increasingly insecure about his relationship with Diana because he is terrified that she will continue to be involved with Gage. This insecurity is made worse when Diana finds out that Gage bought their house while it was in foreclosure. David and Diana break up as their animosity grows.
